Rapid Fire with June Del Campo

Get to know 13-year-old ripper June Del Campo, the aspiring professional surfer from Donostia, Basque Country in Spain. Not only is June an incredible surfer, but she also battles on the Bera Bera handball team. June's athleticism and drive inspire us to keep pushing our limits. What is a day in your shoes like? 
Wake up.
Go to school.
Train handball with my team (Bera Bera).
Go surfing.

When did you start surfing?
I started surfing when I was 7.

Who inspired you to start surfing? 
My dad. He has always been surfing; he inspired me.

Favorite board? 
My Pukas shortboard

How would you describe the surfing scene in Basque County? What is your surfing community like? 
Every day goes growing, so every day is there new people surfing. It has became more difficult to take a wave because of the people that are surfing there too. 
But I love it. It's like a big family.

Where is your favorite local surf spot?
La Zurriola 

Where is your favorite travel surf spot? Why here?
Indonesia: It has the most amazing waves I've ever seen! (...on the internet....)
Hawaii: It's just magic.

Who or what inspires you?
Professional female surfers (for example Carissa Moore, Tatiana Weston-Webb), my family and friends.

Keep going and trying. It'll arrive any day. Never matter what they say. Follow your dreams. Travel. Meet people. Make friends. Have fun!
